Svendetta with Dennis Swise?

When he broke bread with Slippery Pete Kenyon, Sven-Goran Eriksson was rumoured to be after the Chelsea job. When he joined the Fake Sheikh at table, he expressed interest in the Villa job. And then there was that repast with Faria Alam, which ended with a [Snip! - Fiver Lawyers]. Now it's happened again, with the former England manager being linked with Alan Pardew's job after being spotted dining with two figures central to Kia Joorabchian's potential takeover of West Ham.

As recently as last Sunday, Svenis was seen chowing down with Eli Papouchado, an Israeli property magnate who is Joorabchian's main backer, and the agent Pini Zahavi, who has helped coordinate the prospective buy-out. However, Sven's agent Athole Still insists the dinner in Tel Aviv was, um, kosher. "It was an absolutely private dinner and it was not in any way connected with West Ham," he declared, putting an end to speculation that the party had spent the evening discussing the header with which Trevor Brooking won the 1980 FA Cup final ... and he didn't score many headers you know.

If Joorabchian does take control at Upton Park he plans to replace Pardew with an internationally renowned manager, but failing that, may well settle for Eriksson instead. And if the Swede takes over, chances are that he'd immediately try to curry favour with the fans by signing one of their own - a genuine East End jellied eel-eating geezer born within the sound of Bow Bells. Somebody high profile, perhaps. Somebody who's currently unsettled abroad, and whose wife has made no secret of her desire to live in Big London. And if that gruesome prospect isn't enough to get Hammers fans rallying around Pardew, then SHQ bet Stefan Postma-ed if it knows what will.
